Program Description
Over the past decade business schools have significantly advanced the global nature of their MBA programs. Schools have “internationalized” in many ways—by opening campuses abroad, creating exchange partnerships with schools on multiple continents, conducting global study tours, integrating international cases into the core curriculum, and attracting students and faculty from all parts of the globe to their campuses. These activities have contributed in significant ways to building international awareness in MBA graduates.
Yet, in a world where the forces of globalization impact business leaders on a day-to-day basis, how might we better equip MBA students to manage across borders? How might we cultivate a deeper global mindset through our curricular offerings?
For an opportunity to explore the concept of global mindset—what it is, why it’s important, and how it’s best developed—and to learn about ways to strengthen your curricular offerings in this area, please join us for the 2008 MBA Roundtable symposium. Through a series of expert presentations, facilitated panel discussions, and case studies you will explore ways in which business schools are developing curricula to enrich the global vision of their students. You will then join fellow MBA faculty, deans, and directors in engaged dialogue around curricular approaches you might consider for your program.

This interactive session will highlight the growing demand within public and private entities for managerial talent with deep global mindsets. Why is global mindset important to the future of management and management education? What lessons can business schools learn from the approaches taken by public and private organizations who are working to develop global mindsets in their employees?
Expert Presentation
Dr. Mansour Javidan, Dean of Research and Garvin Distinguished Professor at the Thunderbird School of Global Management
Dr. Javidan, who spearheads Thunderbird's global mindset initiative, will share his expertise as a leading researcher, teacher, and consultant on global mindset and international management. He will highlight current research into global mindset--why it is critical to managerial success and ways in which it can be cultivated in managers. As part of this session he will also introduce and debrief Thunderbird's Global Mindset Inventory (GMI) with symposium participants who will have completed the assessment prior to the event.
