Patricia Sánchez Abril, Professor of Business Law and Vice Dean of Graduate Business Programs at the University of Miami Business School
Since 2004, she has taught all aspects of business law, negotiation, and business ethics to undergraduates, MBAs, Executive MBAs, and in Executive Education Programs. Professor Abril has been a champion of pedagogical innovation, experiential learning, and mentorship of students. Anticipating the evolving needs of business students and professionals, she developed and taught a suite of business law courses placing an emphasis on research, critical thinking, and communication skills. Known for her dedication to students, Professor Abril has mentored and supervised many student research projects, which have earned her students accolades, successful career placement, and spots in the country’s top law and graduate schools.   Over the past decade, she has received five excellence in teaching awards, including in the MBA for Artists and Athletes, the Global Executive MBA (Spanish), and the undergraduate business program. Upon the recommendation of her students and alumni, she was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa and Iron Arrow.  Professor Abril’s research centers on privacy law and its intersection with emerging technologies and has informed major court decisions, corporate policies, and legislation. Recently, she served on the Uniform Law Commission’s Drafting Committee for Social Media Privacy, writing the first uniform privacy law addressing schools’ and employers’ access to students’ and employees’ social media. In addition, Professor Abril is the co-author of Business Law and the Legal Environment, one of the leading textbooks in her discipline. A frequent commentator on the law and emerging technology, Professor Abril’s remarks in both English and Spanish have appeared in numerous national and international print and broadcast outlets, including CNNDinero, on which she is a frequent guest.  In 2011, the Academy of Legal Studies in Business honored her with its “Distinguished Faculty Early Career Achievement Award.”  Before embarking on an academic career, Abril practiced corporate and entertainment law and worked at Univision Communications in a business capacity. A Miami native, Abril graduated from Harvard Law School and earned her B.A. from Duke University as an Angier B. Duke Scholar.

Jeff Bieganek, Executive Director, MBA Roundtable
Prior to joining the MBA Roundtable, Jeff was the Director of the Omnium Global Executive MBA Program at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.  As Director of Omnium, Jeff oversaw all operations of the program that delivered learning modules in Canada, India, China, Switzerland, Brazil, Turkey, Hungary, Italy, UAE and Argentina. Jeff joined the Omnium program after 10 years at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management where he served as Director of MBA Admissions and was responsible for recruiting and admitting students into the full-time, part-time and executive MBA programs.  Jeff was also active in the management of Carlson’s Executive MBA International Residency program, which traveled to China, Hungary, Sweden, Russia, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Poland, Hungary and Austria.  Jeff has served on the Board of Directors of the Executive MBA Council, as well has been active with the Graduate Management Admissions Council.  Previous career adventures have included managing a vocal academy, fundraising and marketing for an international dance festival and managing productions for a Broadway producer.  Jeff currently serves as a judge for the Reimagine Education Awards, which will be delivered this December in London and also serves as Chair of the Advisory Board for Northrop at the University of Minnesota.  Jeff has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Management.

Ian Curtiss, Assistant Dean for Asia at the W. P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University
Ian currently leads strategic engagement in the Asia region for the W. P. Carey school of business and advises on university initiatives in China. Prior to joining W. P. Carey, Ian’s career focused on global public affairs and market analysis for public and private clients.  Most recently, Ian led the policy and U.S. government affairs teams at the American Chamber of Commerce in China. In this role, he consulted American businesses on the latest policy developments, developed strategies to influence Chinese policies and coordinated all programs with U.S. agencies. Prior to that, Ian worked at a number of organizations in U.S.-Mexico and Arizona government affairs and research.  Ian has Bachelor’s degrees in History and Political Science from Arizona State University, a Master’s of International Relations from Peking University and an MBA from the W. P. Carey School of Business. Ian speaks both Mandarin Chinese and Spanish fluently.

Gary Fraser, Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion, NYU Stern
Gary Fraser is currently Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion at New York University’s Stern School of Business with a focus on Inclusion, Diversity, Belonging, and Equity for all members of the NYU Stern community.  Before returning to NYU Stern in January 2019, Dr. Fraser was Assistant Dean of Full Time Student Affairs at the UCLA Anderson School of Management where he was responsible for overseeing Academic Affairs, Student Engagement, and Leadership Development for full time MBA students.  While at UCLA Anderson, he was a guest lecturer in the Executive MBA program, taught a course entitled Real World Challenges Leaders Face and developed and taught the following courses: Leadership Development at Anderson and Anderson Leadership Development Year Two: Your Next Life. Prior to his time at UCLA, Dr. Fraser was an Assistant Dean at the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business.  He began his career in higher education at NYU Stern and from 2000 to 2012 he served as Assistant Dean of the Office of Career Development and then Associate Dean of Student Affairs & Dean of Students there.  Prior to working in Higher Education, Dr. Fraser held positions in brand management at the Hanes Corporation, the Dr. Pepper/Snapple Group, and Mondelez International. In 2011, he received his Ed.D. from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education.  His dissertation was entitled: A Case Study in Leadership Development at Select U.S.Graduate Business Schools.  Dr. Fraser received his MBA from NYU Stern, where he served as President of the Association of Hispanic and Black Business Students, was the recipient of New York University’s President’s Service Award, and was selected as the student speaker at his NYU Stern graduation ceremonies.  He earned his Bachelor of Science from Syracuse University, where he was named captain of the Intercollegiate Debate Team.  In addition to serving as a board member for the Forte’ Foundation, Dr. Fraser is the founding board chair of Collegiate Charter High School of Los Angeles and has previously served on the board for the Los Angeles chapter of Minds Matter.

Amy Hillman, Charles J. Robel Dean, W. P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University
Dr. Amy Hillman is the Charles J. Robel Dean of the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. She received her PhD from Texas A&M University in Strategic Management and Business and Public Policy in 1996 and was inducted Outstanding Doctoral Alumni from her alma mater in 2008.  Her areas of interest include corporate political strategies, boards of directors, and corporate strategy. Her research includes over 30 peer-reviewed articles published in leading journals such as Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, and Administrative Science Quarterly. She was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Management in 2014 and is a Founding Fellow of the International Corporate Governance Society.  She is former Editor of Academy of Management Review and a former Associate Editor of Academy of Management Journal. She received the Academy of Management’s “Outstanding Educator Award” in 2018 and will serve as Vice-Chair Elect in 2020 and ultimately President of the Academy of Management in 2022.  Amy joined ASU in June, 2001. An award-winning undergraduate, MBA and doctoral teacher, she previously taught at the Ivey Business School at The University of Western Ontario, the Broad Business School at Michigan State University and the Mays College of Business at Texas A&M University. In addition, she has spent several summers as a guest professor at the Institute for International Management at Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria, and taught during her doctoral program at her undergraduate alma mater Trinity University. She has also published seven teaching cases used in classrooms around the world.  Prior to joining academia, Amy was general manager of a retailing and manufacturing organization in the Southwest United States. Today, Amy serves on the board of publicly traded CDK Global, on the board of governors of the Academy of Management, and on the non-profit boards of AACSB and the ASU Research Park.

Mafer Medina, Project Coordinator, W. P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University
Mafer graduated May 2019 with her MBA from the W. P. Carey School of Business, where she was a member of the full-time program. Diversity and inclusion were inherent to her MBA '19 Class, which included students from more than 20 countries, with more than 60% being female. As an international student and as a woman, these were some decisive factors that she was looking for in an MBA program. At W.P. Carey she had a rewarding learning experience where she felt a high sense of belonging. Mafer's hometown is Mexico City, Mexico where she received her BA in Marketing at Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM). Before joining ASU to pursue her MBA, she held marketing and strategic planning job positions at DuPont Chemicals and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. Mafer also worked at ITESM and at National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) as a faculty member in the School of Management.  Currently, Mafer supports the Online MBA Program team at ASU, evaluating curricular content, conducting competitive analysis, and supporting other ad hoc initiatives. She believes that as a recent MBA grad, she can contribute unique value to these projects, and plans to continue her career in education.

Jane Oh, Senior Product Manager, Charles Schwab & Co.
Jane Oh received both her BS in Business Management, minoring in Global Business and Spanish, and an MBA from the University of Arizona. She has spent her career in the Financial Services Industry working for Charles Schwab & Co. in a variety of roles ranging from client-facing, people leadership, change management to her current role in Client Experience and Product Integration strategy. In these roles she has helped develop implementation strategies for firm-wide initiatives, new product launches - as well as help lead retail pricing strategy.  As a second generation Korean-American woman in the financial services industry - which historically has been male-dominated with little diversity - it's only natural that the issues of diversity and inclusion be something that she faces every day. As a result, her experiences have helped shape her perspective and the work that does, always striving to create experiences that are relevant, meaningful, and tailored to all different backgrounds and walks of life.

Stephanie Robertson, Director of Community Engagement and Inclusion, Duke University's Fuqua School of Business
Stephanie Robertson is the Director of Community Engagement and Inclusion with Duke’s Fuqua School of Business.  She received her BA in German Language and Literature and Comparative Area Studies from Duke University and her JD from Georgetown University Law Center.  The highlight of her time at Georgetown Law was working with the Street Law Clinic, which provided law-focused education to high school students in Washington, D.C., as well her Education Law and Policy classes.  Stephanie decided to try out the corporate world first and, after graduating, worked at Thacher Proffitt and Wood in their structured finance department in New York City.  She soon realized that her passion lay in education and began a career in higher ed that has spanned over ten years.  She has worked predominantly in admissions and graduate recruitment for business and law school, including roles with her alma mater, Georgetown Law, and Duke’s rival down the street, UNC Chapel Hill.  During this time, Stephanie developed programs and created pathways to enable diverse populations to apply for, and enroll in, graduate school.  She has run major pipeline programs designed to expose underrepresented populations to the business and legal fields.   In her current role, Stephanie collaborates with students, staff and faculty to create a more inclusive space at Fuqua.  Her goal is to cultivate a community where students across dimensions of identity are provided opportunities to share their authentic selves.  She supports students from diverse backgrounds, particularly those from traditionally underrepresented populations in business schools and educates all students on the critical need for, and benefits of, diversity and inclusion in the business world and society as a whole.
 
Lesley Symons, Founder, The Case for Women
Lesley is the founder of The Case for Women which conducts research into the presence of women in case papers with the aim of improving their presence in business school learning tools and their overall representation within the tertiary education sector.  Her research has been widely published across media such as Fortune, Harvard Business Review, Financial Times and Poets and Quants. Her HBR article, “What the Scarcity of Women in Business Case Studies Really Looks Like”, co-authored with Herminia Ibarra, was cited in a recent White House Brief, “Expanding Opportunities for Women in Business”.  Lesley is an accredited leadership coach and teaches part-time on a variety of MBA and executive leadership programs for London Business School. She has developed and held executive leadership programmes for world-leading organizations such as Microsoft, Old Mutual Wealth, Volkswagen Group and Red Bull International.  Lesley is passionate about getting more women into leadership positions as she knows through experience the challenges that women encounter when in senior executive roles. She conducts annually a workshop on “How to Flourish in a Gendered Workplace” for a women’s leadership programme.  Symons has co-authored a winning case paper alongside Debapratim Purkayastha and has been a contributing author to course material for the University of East London’s MSc in Integrative Counselling and Coaching programme.  An experienced speaker, Lesley presents at various events globally, most recently at the 2019 Gender and Education Association International Conference at the University of Portsmouth.  Symons has ten years’ experience as an executive coach, facilitator and speaker; prior to that she spent 20 years in the fast-moving consumer goods industry with companies such as L’Oréal and Estée Lauder.  Lesley hold a Master’s in Coaching and Consulting for Change gained at INSEAD as well as a Batchelor’s in Applied Social Science. She is based in London and Sydney.


Daniel J. Turner, Associate Dean, Master’s Programs & Brix Endowed Fellow in Marketing Department of Marketing & International Business
Daniel “Dan” Turner is Associate Dean of Masters Programs and the Brix Endowed Fellow in Marketing at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business in Seattle, Washington. The focus of Dan’s academic work pertains to management of the marketing function, the critical interface between an organization and its customers.  Dan is a distinguished educator, curriculum architect, and consultant. He shares a strong passion for providing students of all levels with transformative learning experiences— both in the classroom and in the field—that accelerate their leadership development.  At Foster Dan teaches courses in Strategic Marketing Management, Pricing, and Marketing of Innovations in various MBA and executive education programs. He has received numerous teaching awards at Foster and at his Ph.D. alma mater, the Kellogg School of Management. Those awards include the Foster School’s PACCAR Award for Teaching Excellence, a recognition that comes with the highest cash prize in North America. For the past 10 years he has served as the Associate Dean for Master’s Programs with full admissions, curriculum, operations, career management, and alumni relations oversight for Foster’s 7 MBA programs and 6 Specialized Master’s degrees. He has designed and executed leadership development programs for Amazon, Microsoft, Boeing, Esterline, the Gates Foundation, Hyundai Heavy Industries, SK Corporation, and a host of other world-class organizations across the globe. Dan serves on the Board of Directors at MBA Roundtable, Chairs the Board’s Research Committee, and is past Chair of the University of Washington’s Faculty Council on Teaching and Learning, a faculty governance body tasked with fostering excellence in teaching and learning across the University’s 3 campuses.  Prior to arriving at Foster in 1999, Dan taught at the Kellogg School, and—before entering academia—he worked as a consultant at Blattberg Cheney Associates, served as an analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank, and ran a business for Circuit City Stores.  Dan holds the following degrees: BS 1991, Business Administration, Cook School of Business, Saint Louis University; MBA 1993, Olin Business School, Washington University; PhD, 2001, Marketing, Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University
